Islam Prohibits Cohabitation

Islam Prohibits Cohabitation

Nowadays, some muslim couples cohabit in order to find out whether they are compatible with one another. If they are compatible then they get married. If not, then they part ways.

Islam prohibits such cohabitation because the couple can only cohabit after undergoing the aqad ceremony.

Couples must bear in mind that during courtship and before marriage, their respective partner will not show their true colours. They will be at their best behaviour in order to win their partner’s heart. There is an Arab saying which means:

كُلُّ خَاطِبٍ كَاذِبٌ

 Every lover/fiancé/fiancée is a liar.
